Close to HUG's heart are the children of the Lakota Sioux Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. For the past 10 years, we provided assistance for up to 5,000 childr en who would otherwise have no Christmas at all. For months before Christmas, HUG collected donations of new toys, clothes, shoes, fresh fruits, nuts, and other treats. Then the whole bounty would be shipped or personally taken to the Rosebud Reservation. The Lakota Sioux are among the poorest of the native American nations, being the only non-federally funded reservation in the United States.
Due to the lack of funds, this worthwhile tradition had to be discontinued. We are praying to receive some financial support required so that we can once again help the Lakota Sioux and provide Christmas for our "own home's" children in need. |
